How the website cost calculator works out your price
Pages set your package: up to 5 is Starter, up to 10 is Business and up to 15 is Growth. For a shop, products do the same: up to 20 is a Small shop, and up to 50 is an Online shop. Every site comes with a quote request form and a reviews section as standard.
Anything else is an add-on at a fixed price on top: blog £100, help writing your copy £120, online booking calendar £50, photo upload on the quote form £50, local SEO setup £150. If your package already includes one, it costs nothing extra. Add-ons never move you to a bigger package on their own.
If a bigger package would cost the same or less, the estimate says “Recommended”. If it’s up to £150 more, it says “Worth a look” and shows what you’d get. A 5-page site with a blog and copy help is £620 on Starter, so the estimate reads: “Worth a look: Business is £130 more and adds 5 more pages, 30 days’ support and a third round of revisions.” You choose whether to switch.
Not sure how many pages? Count one for each service you offer. A page of its own is what gives a service a chance to show up when someone searches for it, so we’d rather you priced for that than squeezed six services onto one page.
Then it adds what you pay monthly. A care plan covers hosting, SSL, backups, updates and edit time. Year 1 counts 12 months of it, and the cost to own over 3 years counts 36. An SEO plan, from £199/mo, is monthly rolling, so it’s shown on its own line and left out of both totals.
Two things are worked out for you. Growth includes Enquiry Bot setup and its first month, so the bot’s fee starts in month 2. A Business site with an Enquiry Bot becomes the Trades Starter Kit, which saves £100.

What a Business website with Care+ costs over 3 years
Say you’re a plumber with six services. You want a page for each, plus home, about and contact: nine pages, so Business at £750. You’d rather we looked after the site, so you add Care+ at £45/mo.
That’s £1,290 in year 1 and £2,370 over 3 years. Over those 3 years the care plan comes to £1,620, more than the build itself, so compare totals as well as build prices.
Add an Enquiry Bot and the build becomes the Trades Starter Kit at £950, with the bot at £29 a month on top. Without a care plan, that’s £1,298 in year 1.

What the estimate doesn’t cover
The calculator only prices what our packages include. Bigger jobs are quoted per project, and a few costs sit outside every package. If you run a shop, Care+ suits most small ones, and we confirm the plan when we quote.
Quoted per project
- A website with more than 15 pages
- An online shop with more than 50 products
- Anything else beyond a package and its add-ons, such as connecting a booking system or CRM
Not in any package
- Domain registration, charged at cost
- Third-party and platform fees, such as paid plugins, booking tool subscriptions, e-commerce platform subscriptions and payment processing fees
- Content beyond the package scope, such as extra pages or copywriting beyond your core pages

Website cost calculator questions
How accurate is the website cost calculator?
It uses the same fixed prices as our website packages page, and add-ons are priced the same way. This is the price, unless the scope changes. We confirm the scope with a free website check before we start. Scope is what can change it: more pages than you expected, a shop that needs more than 50 products, or work outside every package.
Why does the calculator say “Quoted per project”?
Two jobs don’t fit a package: a site of more than 15 pages, and a shop with more than 50 products. We price those once we know the scope, so they’re listed in your estimate and left out of the totals.
What do “Recommended” and “Worth a look” mean?
Your pages set your package, and add-ons go on top. If a bigger package would cost the same as your package plus its add-ons, or less, the estimate says “Recommended”. If it would cost up to £150 more, it says “Worth a look” and lists what it adds, such as more pages or longer support. Nothing changes unless you choose to switch.
Do I have to pay anything monthly?
Only for what you choose. The build is a one-off, paid 50% upfront, 50% on launch. A care plan costs £25/mo or £45/mo and you can cancel anytime. SEO plans run from £199/mo and are monthly rolling, with 30 days’ notice, so the calculator shows SEO on its own line and leaves it out of the year 1 and 3-year totals. The Enquiry Bot is £300 to set up, then £29 a month.
What is the Trades Starter Kit?
A Business website and Enquiry Bot setup together for £950, £100 less than buying them separately. Choose a site that fits Business and add an Enquiry Bot, and the calculator applies the kit for you. The bot’s £29 monthly fee is on top.
Can I get a WordPress website at these prices?
Yes. Every website package can be built on WordPress at the same price, so you can edit the site yourself. The calculator’s estimate is the same either way.
Does the calculator save my answers?
No. It runs in your browser, and your answers aren’t saved or sent anywhere. If you click through to our contact form or the free website check, the estimate is held in your browser’s session storage so the form can fill it in, and it’s deleted as soon as the form reads it. Nothing reaches us until you send the form.
Is VAT added to your prices?
No. CodeKodex isn’t VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to any of our prices.
