Website redesign services that keep your rankings

Our website redesign services give UK small businesses a faster, clearer site without throwing away the Google rankings the old one earned. Redesigns use the same fixed-price packages as a new build, from £400. Every one includes keeping your URLs where we can, a 301 redirect map for the ones that change, and Search Console checks after launch.

SIGNS

Signs your website needs a redesign

Looking dated is rarely the real problem. The test is whether the site still turns visitors into calls and enquiries, especially on a phone.

If three or more of these sound familiar, a redesign is worth pricing up.

  • It’s slow on a phone, especially on mobile data
  • Your phone number is hard to find, or doesn’t tap to call
  • You can’t change prices, photos or opening hours without paying a developer
  • Every service is crammed onto one page
  • It looks fine on a laptop but breaks or shrinks on a phone
  • Enquiries from the website have dropped, and you can’t tell why
  • The theme or platform no longer gets updates, or nobody has the logins

Not sure? The free website check looks at 5 things, including speed on a phone and how easy it is to call you, and tells you what we’d fix first. Sometimes that’s a few fixes, and we’ll say so.

KEEPING YOUR RANKINGS

How we redesign a website without losing your rankings

  1. 1Before we touch the design, we crawl your current site and record every URL, page title, meta description and existing redirect. If you can give us Search Console access, we also note which pages bring in search traffic.
  2. 2We keep your URLs wherever the new structure allows. When one has to change, it gets a permanent 301 redirect to the closest new page, so visitors and Google land somewhere useful instead of a 404.
  3. 3On the staging site, you click through a preview link while we check that the SEO basics carried over: titles, headings, internal links, structured data and the sitemap.
  4. 4After launch, we test the redirects, submit the new sitemap and check Search Console for crawl errors and missing pages, then fix what turns up. Doing it yourself? Our website redesign SEO checklist covers every step.
  1. Crawl the old siteEvery URL, title and redirect recorded
  2. Keep or map each URLKept where we can, a 301 where we can’t
  3. Check on stagingTitles, headings and schema carried over
  4. Launch and watchRedirects tested, Search Console checked
The same four steps on every redesign, whatever the package.
KEEP OR REPLACE

What our website redesign services keep and replace

A redesign should fix what isn’t working without losing what is. This is how we usually split it, and we agree the list with you before design starts.

What we keep

  • URLs that already rank or bring in enquiries
  • Your domain, business name and phone number
  • Copy that answers real customer questions, tidied rather than thrown away
  • Reviews, accreditations and photos of real jobs
  • Business details that match your Google Business Profile exactly
  • Your GA4 and Search Console history, still connected

What we replace

  • Slow templates and heavy page builders
  • Layouts that break or shrink on a phone
  • Buried phone numbers and long contact forms
  • A single “Services” page, split into one page per service
  • Dead pages, each with a 301 to the closest live page
  • Themes and plugins that no longer get updates
PROCESS

Website redesign process and timeline

A redesign follows the same steps as a new build, with the SEO checks added. From go-ahead to launch, it typically takes around 2 weeks on Starter, 3–4 weeks on Business and 4–6 weeks on Growth.

  1. Crawl and plan

We crawl the old site, agree what stays and what goes, and plan the new pages around your services.

  2. Design

Mobile-first designs for your key pages, refined with you within your package’s revision rounds.

  3. Build on staging

We build on a preview link while your current site stays live, then check the SEO carried over.

  4. Launch and check

Redirects tested, sitemap submitted and Search Console checked after launch.

FAQ

Website redesign questions

How much does a website redesign cost in the UK?

With us, a redesign costs the same as a new build: £400 for up to 5 pages, £750 for up to 10 and £1,200 for up to 15. An online shop starts from £1,500. Keeping your URLs, mapping 301 redirects and checking Search Console after launch are included in every package.

Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?

It can. Changed URLs with no redirects and deleted pages that used to rank are the common causes of a drop after a relaunch. We keep URLs where we can, 301 the rest to the closest new page, carry over titles and headings, and check Search Console after launch to protect what the old site earned.

How long does a website redesign take?

Typically around 2 weeks for a Starter site, 3–4 weeks for Business, 4–6 weeks for Growth and from 4 weeks for a shop, from go-ahead to launch. The crawl and the redirect map happen inside that time. Timelines depend on your content and feedback arriving when planned.

What’s the difference between a redesign and a rebuild?

A redesign changes how the site looks and reads. A rebuild replaces the code or platform underneath. Many small business redesigns end up being both, because a slow theme or an outdated platform is often the real problem. Either way, the SEO steps are the same: crawl, keep or redirect every URL, then check after launch.

Do I need a full redesign, or just a few fixes?

Sometimes a few fixes will do, such as faster hosting, a tap-to-call button and a clearer contact page. Our free website check looks at 5 things, including speed on a phone and how easy it is to enquire, and tells you what we’d fix first. If that’s a short list, we’ll say so.

Can you redesign a website another company built?

Yes. We need access to your domain and to the hosting or platform login, and ideally to Google Search Console and GA4. If nobody has the logins any more, tell us early, because getting them back can take a while. We crawl the live site before anything changes, so the record of every URL is safe.

Will my site go offline during the redesign?

No. We build the new site on a preview link while your current site stays live, then switch over on launch day with zero downtime. The 301 redirects go live at the same moment, so old links, bookmarks and search results keep landing on a working page.

Is VAT added to your prices?

No. CodeKodex isn’t VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to any of our prices.
